Growing Hope
From the Streets to Stability

From the Streets to Stability

"They didn't just give me a hygiene kit—they gave me dignity. For the first time in months, someone looked me in the eye and treated me like a human being."

"That connection changed everything. Now I'm 8 months clean and helping others find their way."

I was living under the bridge for almost two years when the Growin' Paynz van first pulled up. I'd gotten used to people walking past me like I was invisible, so when Sarah got out and actually said hello, I didn't know what to think. She handed me this kit with soap, toothbrush, all the basics I hadn't had in forever. But more than that, she sat down and talked to me. Really talked. No judgment, no preaching, just human to human. That was the beginning of everything changing for me.

A Mother's Second Chance

A Mother's Second Chance

"I lost custody of my kids because of my addiction. The peer support team helped me see that recovery was possible, even when I couldn't see it myself."

"Today I have my children back and we're building a life together. Hope is real."

When I first met the outreach team, I was at my lowest point. I'd lost my kids, my home, everything that mattered. Jamie from Growin' Paynz didn't try to fix me or tell me what to do. She just listened and shared her own story. Knowing someone else had been where I was and made it out gave me the first spark of hope I'd felt in years. The hygiene kits helped me feel human again, but the peer support helped me believe in myself again.

Finding Community in Recovery

Finding Community in Recovery

"After 20 years of addiction, I thought I was beyond help. The team showed me that it's never too late to start over."

"Recovery isn't about being perfect. It's about being connected to people who understand."

I'd been on the streets for so long, I forgot what it felt like to be treated with respect. The Growin' Paynz team changed that. They didn't see a homeless addict—they saw a person worth caring about. The regular visits, the conversations, the simple act of remembering my name... it all added up to something bigger. Community. For the first time in decades, I wasn't alone in this fight.

Peer Support That Works

Peer Support That Works

"As someone in recovery myself, I know how important it is to have people who truly understand your struggle."

"When you've walked the same path, you can offer hope in a way that others can't."

I joined the Growin' Paynz team because I remember what it was like to need help and not know where to turn. Having lived experience means I can connect with people in a way that traditional social workers sometimes can't. When I tell someone that recovery is possible, they can see the proof standing right in front of them. That's the power of peer support—it's hope with a face and a story.

Small Acts, Big Changes

Small Acts, Big Changes

"A simple hygiene kit might not seem like much, but when you haven't had soap in weeks, it's everything."

"Dignity isn't a luxury—it's a human right. Growin' Paynz reminded me of that."

People don't realize how much the little things matter when you're living on the streets. Being able to brush your teeth, wash your face, feel clean—it changes how you see yourself and how others see you. The Growin' Paynz kits gave me back my dignity, one small item at a time. But it was the way they were given that mattered most. With respect, with kindness, with the understanding that I'm a human being deserving of care.

Building Bridges, Not Walls

Building Bridges, Not Walls

"The team doesn't just drop off supplies and leave. They stay, they listen, they build relationships."

"Recovery happens in relationship with others. You can't do it alone."

What sets Growin' Paynz apart is that they don't treat outreach like a transaction. They're not just handing out supplies—they're building relationships. The same faces show up week after week, remembering your name, asking how you're doing, celebrating small victories with you. That consistency, that genuine care, it creates a foundation of trust that makes everything else possible. When you're ready to take the next step, you know you have people in your corner.
